Dear Cinemagoers, Visitors of the Ale Kino! Festival,

When six years ago Andrzej Maleszka started working on the TV series “The Magic Tree”, probably neither he nor anyone else could see it coming that it would be one of the biggest achievements of the Polish cinema in years to come.
It is time to restore dignity and central place to films for young audiences. In 2005, the Polish Film Institute was established. There are more and more films being produced, and more and more of them are good, which has been demonstrated at the recent festival in Gdynia. We would like this rising trend to be visible in film production for children and teenagers, too. Because it is not true that young viewers want to watch only “Harry Potter” and “Hannah Montana”. Over 9,000 young viewers took part in the children’s section of the Gdynia Festival! This is what festivals are all about and Ale Kino! visitors have probably felt this vibe a number of times. A festival makes it possible to have an immediate contact with the living cinema, its authors or actors, and it allows directors to be more sensitive to the expectations and hopes of the audience so as to present another, even better film in a year or two!
I wish all Ale Kino! visitors a lot of good emotions, and all filmmakers – only good films for this most important audience of all, the young audience!
