Dear participants,

Jeremi Przybora, the co-author of the legendary Kabaret Starszych Panów (The Cabaret of the Elderly Gentlemen), was always said to have retained child’s sensitivity despite the passing of time. This childlike sensitivity and imagination allowed him, a poet, to create extraordinary things. A similar story could be told about other artists, like the author of “Peter Pan”, to name but one. It is a common dream of ours to retain childlike sensitivity. The cinema is one of the places that make it possible. It also shapes our taste for years to come. When I think of the Ale Kino! Festival, I do not have to worry about good taste. With amazing integrity and in the most responsible way, it presents what most valuable and interesting modern cinema has to offer to children and teenagers. It follows no fads. Rather, it shapes tastes. It is from among its audience that future film fans and experts are likely to come. I would like to congratulate the organisers on their beautiful jubilee. Like last year, I wish the festival audience interesting meetings and talks, but most of all a lot of screenings after which they could think admiringly: “Ale kino! / What a show!”
